Ann and Karen have designed original polymer clay pins, earrings, barrettes and bracelets for the brand new store at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. The FIDM Museum Gallery Gift Store features products from a number of FIDM alumni designers. Buyer and store manager Linda Guerena has created an attractive atmosphere with beautiful, unique gifts. The opening of the store at the end of February coincides with the expansion of the costume gallery and the annual exhibition of costumes from Academy Award nominated films. The store address is 919 S. Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. For store hours, you can call the Fashion Institute at (213)624-1200.
In October, Ann and Karen met with longtime AnKara customer Pat Musick and her daughter Mae Whitman to create a very special ensemble of accessories for Mae to wear as a presenter at the Hollywood Reporter Young Star Awards. Twelve year old Mae is a veteran actor of such films as Independence Day and Hope Floats, and is currently starring in the Fox Family Series State of Grace. Pat and Mae chose a pink and gold crystal flower necklace with matching earrings and headband, and Mae added several pink beaded bracelets to coordinate with her dusty rose-gold organza two-piece dress.

spring fashions
|
|
Spring fashions are all about fresh color. The hues to have are lavender, pink, light green, turquoise, red, orange, tan, and yellow. The direction for jewelry is detailed, ornate, and fun. Bracelets of all styles and widths are worn in multiples, and the y-necklace returns in a longer variation, some with double drops. Gold tones and crystal accents are more evident as well. Earrings are diverse, with multi-drop, hoop, and longer styles leading the looks for spring.
Bridal trends for 2001 are following the current fashion trends in both color and style. Dresses and jewelry are feminine and accented with a bit of sparkle. For brides shopping online, the most popular AnKara styles can be seen under the listing for AnKara Designs at www.1800wedding.com. |
